Do I have to be a member at Beacon Community Fitness?
Not at all! Although we serve this community as well, we are open for anyone who is looking to improve their health through coaching!
Do I have to count calories or macros?
You do not have to do anything. We encourage you to track food at certain times depending on what your specific goals are or for learning purposes. At times the clients goals may take us down a path of counting/tracking calories or macros via an app like MyFitnessPal again depending on their specific goals.
Do you provide meal plans?
No we do not. We feel that it is important that you make and control the decisions as this is what will drive your longterm success. We are not always going to be there so you need to learn about the most effective and ineffective foods for you as well as learning portions.
How and when do we check in?
Check-ins are done via phone, zoom, or in person at Beacon
What will my first time in your gym be like?
Your first time into Beacon, we want you to feel comfortable. One of our awesome coaches will give you a tour of the facilities, go through the WOD, and walk through what you can expect during class.
What’s your drop-in policy?
We love nothing more than having visitors from other boxes come “throw down” with us!
If you are just passing through, we charge a drop in fee of $25 per day or offer a week-long punch pass for $60.
Please arrive 15 minutes before scheduled class time so we can provide you with a waiver to sign and introduce you to Beacon. You can find our class schedule Here.
How often do you recommend I come to the gym?
If you’re just starting up, we recommend coming three days/week for your first couple weeks, then build to four, then five. Once you’re up to five days per week, we recommend building in two recovery days per week.
I’m not in very good shape… can I still do the WOD?
The very first thing you will discover is that Beacon does not discriminate. Whether you are young at heart, or have just completed your 50th marathon, or are recovering from injury or healing a broken heart, or walking the dog is the only exercise you’ve had in years…We will help you achieve your fitness goals.
One of the things that makes Beacon so unique is our community of people from literally every walk of life: stay-at-home parents, elite athletes, students, CEOs, members of the armed services, firefighters, you name it. Bodies – our bodies – come in every imaginable size, shape and age; and yet, our workouts every day are designed for anyone to do them.
I heard that CrossFitter’s use their own language, can you help me with the terms?
Sure! This is a great link that will help get you started – http://greatist.com/fitness/ultimate-guide-crossfit-lingo. Word of caution: No need to be intimidated by this… ☺ We’ll walk you through it all!
Can I do my own thing during class?
For any athletes who have experience with the CrossFit methodology or Weightlifting, we have an Open Gym area where you can follow your own programming. We only ask that you follow our house rules.
- Reserve your spot on WODify
- Wipe all equipment after use
- Have fun!
I just relocated/looking for a new gym and I’d like to check you out prior to joining.
If you have experience with the CrossFit methodology and want to try us out we will set you up for a drop-in. If you feel Beacon Community Fitness is the right gym for you, we’ll get you started on our On Ramp program. Please contact us at email@example.com.
